I have many reasons to be...

I have many reasons to be grateful for Christian Science. After learning of it, I was healed in a few weeks of a serious stomach ailment from which I had suffered for over a year. During the Second World War and the postwar years, my family and I had many proofs of God's protecting and sustaining power. However, I should like to tell of one healing in particular.

One day I was taken with a pain in my right arm and hand. As the pain became greater I worked against it with the understanding I had of Christian Science. Within a week, however, the condition was so severe that I had no strength in my arm and hand. Also, the pain had become greater.

The fearsome thought that f was paralyzed tried to assert itself, for I no longer had the strength to open a door. The Lesson-Sermon for that week, outlined in the Quarterly, contained Jesus' question, "How can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man?" (Matt. 12:29) Mrs. Eddy gives a wonderful interpretation of these words in Science and Health, where we read (p. 400), "Mortal mind is 'the strong man,' which must be held in subjection before its influence upon health and morals can be removed."
