Ever since Jesus came that first: Christmas, the angels' message of "on earth peace, good will toward men" has not changed. . . . Jesus [said]: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid" (John 14:27)

How can we expect to enjoy peace when haunted by sin and selfishness? "There is no peace, saith the Lord, unto the wicked" (Isa. 48:22). . . . The peace of which we speak, which the world cannot give nor take away, is that which accompanies the new birth. . . . [One] writer of Proverbs said, "When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him" (16:7). . . .
