Joy and Happiness Contribute to Healing

Christian Science brings the spiritual understanding of joy and happiness to mankind. Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 57): "Happiness is spiritual, born of Truth and Love. It is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it.

The understanding that these qualities are spiritual comes from Mind. Christian Science reveals God to us as Mind and man as a compound spiritual idea, including all right ideas. Man is, therefore, an individual expression of infinite divine Mind; he is an individual spiritual consciousness. He perfectly expresses that which God knows. He is conscious of the true idea of everything that exists. He is forever conscious of the spiritual idea of joy and happiness.

Christian Science reveals to us that we need not accept the erroneous premise that good in any form is external to man. What wonderful freedom is ours when we realize this, as Jesus did when he said to his disciples (John 16: 22), "Your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you"!
