Isaiah states (59:19), "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." Truly this Scripture has been fulfilled in my experience.

About seven years ago I had a functional disorder. A Christian Science practitioner was helping me to attain my freedom. However, the condition persisted, and I became fearful and discouraged. Then fear seemed to run rampant in my consciousness until I began to fear everything, including life itself. I could not eat or sleep and despaired of what was to happen to me.

The illness was not diagnosed, but the symptoms seemed to indicate a nervous condition along with the functional disorder. I was disturbed because I was unable to hold to the truth as Mrs. Eddy counsels us on page 261 of Science and Health where she writes, "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."
