I wish to express gratitude for Christ Jesus and his healing method, taught in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy.

I was healed of what probably would be called a nervous breakdown. For almost two years, tormenting fears engulfed me. The answer to the question, "What is man?" beginning on page 475 of Science and Health was my mainstay. I clung constantly to one of the truths of man given there as "that which possesses no life, intelligence, nor creative power of his own, but reflects spiritually all that belongs to his Maker." I realized that, as Mind's idea, I reflect spiritually all that belongs to the divine Mind—peace, joy, wisdom, ability, affluence, health, strength, love, and wholeness.

During this trial, I was comforted by these words of John (I John 4:18): "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." This verse was also helpful: "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (II Tim. 1:7). A practitioner assured me that God lovingly directs man at every moment and that I could not lose, but would surely gain the victory.
