I should like to express my...

I should like to express my gratitude for the healing which brought me into Christian Science. My daughter had been ill for about four years with a series of respiratory diseases, each one more severe than the preceding one. In her seventh year, her illness was diagnosed as a chronic disease which at that time had not been healed medically, according to the doctor. Our life was made up of daily visits to the doctor and constant supervision of the atmosphere, foods, and even of clothing that came near the child. Two dear friends recommended Christian Science to me many times, but I resisted the thought of what I believed Science is. I was so controlled by fear that I felt the medical care she was receiving was keeping her alive.

One day, after our visit to the doctor, he asked to speak to me alone. Then he told me with the greatest kindness and sympathy that the medical profession had done all it could, that the child's condition was deteriorating, and that I should prepare myself for the inevitable.

I returned home, told my mother what the doctor had said, and then asked her if she felt Christian Science could heal. She thought for a moment and then said that many years before she had been healed through it of an asthmatic attack and that she had never had asthma after that, but she had never understood Science or investigated it.
