"The Christ treatment"

One great advantage of healing as Christian Science practices it is the dependence upon divine power rather than upon uncertain human belief in the power of material remedies and measures. For divine power is unlimited, bringing about any restoration or adjustment the human mind may need in order for the body to express normal health. Christ Jesus said (Matt. 19:26), "With God all things are possible."

The Christian Scientist knows that if he is to demonstrate dominion over every form of evil, he must express Christliness, the divine nature, which man, made in God's likeness, embodies. He knows that no limitation has ever been placed upon him in regard to his ability to manifest the spirit of Truth. He always has Jesus for his Exemplar, of whom John the Baptist said (John 3:34), "God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." The Christ, the spirit of Truth and Love, will empower all faithful followers of the Master to heal, once they grasp the scientific application of Christliness in their efforts to comfort humanity.

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," under the marginal heading "The Christ treatment," Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 369): "Jesus never asked if disease were acute or chronic, and he never recommended attention to laws of health, never gave drugs, never prayed to know if God were willing that a man should live. He understood man, whose Life is God, to be immortal, and knew that man has not two lives, one to be destroyed and the other to be made indestructible."
