Spiritual Healing Divinely Natural

Spiritual healing is natural—divinely natural. But to most of mankind such healing seems to be miraculous, supernatural. "The natural man," Paul said, "receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned" (I Cor. 2:14).

This "natural man" considers that to be real which can be observed by the physical senses, that can be physically analyzed and reduced to its basic material elements. Mrs. Eddy referred to such a man when she wrote, "Mortal man has made a covenant with his eyes to belittle Deity with human conceptions" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 255). But Christ Jesus brought to humanity a completely different concept of man, and he identified this man as the true, spiritual selfhood of every human being.

To "the natural man" this true concept of man that Jesus brought to mankind seems mysterious, and the life of the Master seems to be miraculous, inexplicable. But as the Christ that he represented enters our hearts, it gives us a true sense of ourselves and provides a spiritual interpretation of what the Master said and did, enabling us to see the divinely natural aspect of his mission. This spiritual interpretation is to be distinguished from the usual misconception that labels anything beyond a material sense of existence as supernatural and enigmatical.
