Signs of the Times

From an editorial in The Anglican Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

There can be no substitute for a childhood spent in a truly Christian home: no school of any kind, or other institution, can compensate its lack. Patterns of behaviour which are firmly established in childhood are projected into life outside the family, in school and at work, and if Christian concepts are to permeate the community as a whole, it is clearly vital that these patterns should be preserved and made stronger.

It must seem obvious to the most casual observer that adults are tending to equate love with indulgence. It must seem equally obvious that in far too few homes ... to-day is there that balance between love, discipline and example prescribed for Christian living.
