THE IMPORTANCE OF ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY

As a rule anything that is worthwhile has reached fulfillment through effort based on absolute certainty of the rightness of the project and of the power of good to enforce itself in the affairs of men.

In the discovery and founding of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy pressed on with indomitable certainty of the importance and success of undertaking the reinstatement of the lost element of spiritual healing, which characterized primitive Christianity. Out of the wealth of her experience in demonstrating what she discovered, she writes (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 2), "Absolute certainty in the practice of divine metaphysics constitutes its utility, since it has a divine and demonstrable Principle and rule—if some fall short of Truth, others will attain it, and these are they who will adhere to it."

One could not go back to believing two plus two equals five after gaining even a slight understanding of the rule of addition. One who has proved the value of Christian Science through the scientific solution of the simplest problem has advanced a measure in changing the basis of his thinking from the material to the spiritual. He cannot lose the spiritually mental gain he has made. Through persistently adhering to divine metaphysics, he will take forward steps in demonstrating its rules.
