I first heard of Christian Science...

I first heard of Christian Science through a neighbor, who asked if she could take our little boy to the Sunday School. My husband and I consented. As a result, our two sons attended the Christian Science Sunday School until they graduated from high school. I started to attend a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and purchased a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I then began to study the Bible Lessons, given in the Christian Science Quarterly.

At one time early in my study I became seriously ill. A doctor was sent for at my husband's request. An X ray was taken, and the doctor said that one of my lungs was affected and that I should go to a sanatorium. I was very much discouraged. From where I lay, I could see the hills, and I recalled this verse from the Bible (Ps. 121:1): "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help." I knew God would help me, for I trusted in Him.

One day a neighbor who is a Christian Science practitioner came to visit me. She felt that it would help me in my recovery if I could get away from home and the medical supervision for a while. So I dismissed the doctor and decided to rely on Christian Science; then I went to visit my sister in her home.
