NOT RESIGNATION, BUT DEMONSTRATION

One of the lectures on Christian Science which I attended soon after I took up the study of this religion began with the lecturer's saying, in substance, "As a child, whenever I heard adults say, 'God's will be done!' I knew something dreadful had happened." And then the lecturer went on to explain that these words, "God's will be done!" take on an entirely different meaning if we follow the path our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, discovered through her consecrated work and then pointed out to us.

On page 109 of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, we read, "When a new spiritual idea is borne to earth, the prophetic Scripture of Isaiah is renewedly fulfilled: 'Unto us a child is born, ... and his name shall be called Wonderful.'"

That is what took place at the lecture referred to, for as I listened quietly and attentively, there came to me more and more the overwhelming desire to become a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist, and thus to take part in the glorious work of those who are striving to put into practice the words of Christ Jesus' prayer (Matt. 6:10): "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done."
