Christian Science came into my life in 1926 when I was faced with an operation for gall bladder trouble. A school friend sent me two copies of The Herald of Christian Science (German edition), and I began to read them that same evening.

Hardly had I grasped the meaning of the first few lines before I pushed the copy I was reading over to my husband, saying, "Read that; it is something wonderful." Thereafter I was filled with a sense of extreme gratitude and happiness. I forgot the pain entirely, and an operation proved to be unnecessary.

In 1929 we became members of The Mother Church and a branch church. Happy years of spiritual progress and beneficent church activities followed.
