SOUL'S CREATIONS ALONE ARE REAL

The term "Thought-forms" appears as a marginal heading on page 306 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Under this heading she writes, "The myriad forms of mortal thought, made manifest as matter, are not more distinct nor real to the material senses than are the Soul-created forms to spiritual sense, which cognizes Life as permanent."

According to his own testimony, the Revelator saw the Soul-created forms while on the Isle of Patmos and described through metaphor and allegory his vision of such absolute formations. He said, for example (Rev. 21:1), "I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away."

Mankind accepts as real the myriad thought forms appearing as matter. But the Christian Scientist, starting with God as the only creator, perceives that "mortal thought, made manifest as matter," must always be illusionary, regardless of how distinct and real these thought forms may appear to be to the material senses.
