Open House

Open house in a Christian Science Reading Room presents an opportunity to acquaint church members, friends, and neighbors with the importance of Reading Room activities. Those who have accepted an invitation from a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, to attend such an occasion have usually found it not only very instructive but inspiring. The following report forwarded by a Reading Room committee in the State of New York proves how prayerful preparation and a thoughtfully detailed plan of procedure will ensure a successful occasion.

"Our aim was to bring to the attention of the citizens of the community as well as our members and friends the facilities which the Christian Science Reading Room offers for study and spiritual refreshment and to acquaint the callers with the books and periodicals sold or loaned.

"Much prayerful work preceded each step from the inception of the plan to its gratifying fulfillment. Each of three preparatory meetings of the Reading Room committee was prefaced by specific study on these subjects: (1) light; (2) God, the source of all; and (3) gratitude.
