In the Preface of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health, Mrs. Eddy has written (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I am deeply grateful that through the teachings of Christian Science I am learning how to lean on "the sustaining infinite" and to prove that each day "is big with blessings."

My first proof that Christian Science heals came quite unexpectedly soon after I had started to study daily the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly. The subject for that week was "Truth." I suddenly realized that the real man does not see with material eyes, but that his sight consists of his discernment of Truth. This understanding healed me instantaneously of the need for wearing glasses. That was over seventeen years ago, and I have never put them on since.

Another healing was that of ivy poisoning. This condition had appeared each spring for three years, and although I had help from practitioners, it was not healed. One day it began to appear on my arms, and I became very fearful. I turned prayerfully to the Lesson-Sermon. The subject was "Adam and Fallen Man," and part of the lesson was from Genesis (1:31): "God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good." I saw clearly that if God had made everything very good, then there was nothing that could harm or hurt me. All fear left me, and the physical condition was gone by the next morning. It has never returned.
