SPIRITUAL RICHES

Throughout the ages men have believed that the possession of material riches would bring into their lives comfort and security. Many, however, have found that riches of themselves have not brought the security, harmony, and well-being which they had hoped to obtain. In their disappointment and disillusionment, many people have turned in recent years to the study of Christian Science and have found that through the utilization of the teachings of this Science their problems have been solved.

When our motives and acts are free from greed, envy, fear, and the selfish desire to accumulate matter and when we endeavor continually to express such God-given qualities as love and unselfish service, nothing can prevent us from proving that our activities are identified with the spiritual riches of divine Love. As our thought is purified, we cease to regard activity as something to be used solely for personal gain, and we try to bring our activities up to the standard set by Christ Jesus, who said (Luke 22: 27), "I am among you as he that serveth."

To give real service, one must recognize that all men in their true selfhood reflect the nature and attributes of God and are governed by Him. This true thought of one's neighbor will eliminate distrust, condemnation, and selfish competition.
