TO PLEASE GOD

In the Bible it is recorded (Hebr. 11:5), "By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God." And centuries later, our beloved Master and Way-shower, Christ Jesus, whose example of perfection has been a shining light for all ages, pleased God, for we read that when he came up out of the water, having been baptized by John, a voice from heaven said (Matt. 3: 17), "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Christian Science, in complete harmony with the Bible, teaches its adherents how to please God, how to spiritualize thought. This is a purifying process which brings with it blessings unlimited: release from lack, sin, sorrow, disease, and even death. The ultimate goal is the complete spiritualization which Christ Jesus attained in his ascension above all corporeality.

In the study of Christian Science, one learns that to please God, he must serve God. To be sure he is serving God, one must carefully examine his motives to be sure that they are Godlike, for these affect his thoughts, his speech, and his actions.
