A LECTURE IS ANNOUNCED

In a small town in the southern part of the United States a Christian Science Society which had just recently been organized announced their first Christian Science lecture. The joy of anticipation was evidenced by each member of the society in his prayerful consideration of the steps to be taken. A suitable hall was found, but since it was not so bright and shining as the members wished, several women volunteered to go over it thoroughly that it might be a proper setting for the lecture.

The enthusiasm of these members was so apparent that several of the merchants wishing to share in the happy occasion offered appropriate furnishings for the stage. One merchant supplied a piano for the night of the lecture.

From the moment the lecture was announced, the membership gave earnest consideration to the spiritual preparation for their guests. Although the population of the town was not large, no limited thought was expressed about the number of guests that might be expected. The argument that there could be resistance to a Christian Science lecture was completely rejected through the members' realization that a Christian Science lecture was evidence of the coming of the Christ to the community.
