Activities for the Armed Services

Considering Hawaii of military importance, the United States has built installations there for our Armed Forces. A few months ago the Far Eastern Command of the United States was moved from Japan to Hawaii. This move served to reawaken interest in this area of the Pacific Ocean.

Among the thousands of American service personnel and their dependents stationed in and near Hawaii, there are an impressive number of Christian Scientists. To meet their needs, Christian Science Activities for the Armed Services has six Christian Science Ministers in this area. One of these Ministers acts as the supervisor of our activities in Hawaii.

Because Hawaii is a stopping place on the way to and from the Far East, many United States naval ships visit Pearl Harbor. Under the direction of our Ministers, supplies of Christian Science literature, primarily for Christian Scientists and for those who have an interest in Christian Science, are placed on board many of these ships. So much literature is distributed in this fashion that bundles have to be sent from the United States to fill the need.
