In March, 1947, a group of Christian Scientists began holding Sunday services and Sunday School in the Civic Club Building in Sims Park and received recognition as a branch of The Mother Church on May 6, 1948. Wednesday evening testimony meetings were started in January, 1950, and continued through May, 1951.

In December, 1954, a large lot was purchased on South River Road, and on June 11, 1955, the society purchased an adjoining house and lot. The house was remodeled into the present church building, and the first service was held on July 10, 1955.

Sunday School was resumed on October 2, of the same year, and Wednesday evening meetings, at which testimonies of healing are given, have been held regularly since January of this year.
