A very close friend of my father, who was a druggist in the small town where we lived, was healed of a so-called incurable disease through Christian Science. He had been given up by the doctors, taken to a nearby town, and placed in a hospital to die. Someone presented him with a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. He read it, pondered it, and came out of the hospital not only a well man, but a changed man. I can still recall my father saying, "Any religion that can do that for a man is a religion

Both my father and mother began to read Science and Health. Some time later my mother was healed of a chronic case of bronchitis. I was healed of astigmatism. After I was married, my wife became interested in Science, and later our three children attended the Sunday School. We had many wonderful healings, mostly through the help of practitioners.

All these years, though, we were just halfhearted students of Christian Science, reading the literature, going to church, and attending lectures, but not willing to take a complete stand for Truth.
