JESUS' HUMANITY

It is important to the student of Christian Science that he comprehend the distinction, which this Science makes plain, between the human Jesus, born of Mary and brought up in Nazareth, and the Christ, Truth, which Jesus lived and taught—the Christ that is eternal, coexistent with God.

Jesus was endued in unlimited measure with the Christ, his divine nature. His understanding of God as Spirit and of man as God's spiritual image and likeness and his constant recognition of his oneness, or unity, with the Father enabled him to do his wonderful, healing, regenerating works. He manifested his divine sonship so completely and expressed the Christ so fully that he is called Christ Jesus.

The earthly life of Jesus was brief. But the Christ always has been and forever will be present to guide, protect, heal, and bless. It is comforting to those who are striving to follow in the footsteps of the Master to realize that because of his human birth and his earthly experience he was able to understand the humanness of mankind and with the compassionate tenderness of the Christ to heal the fearful, the sick, the sinning, the lonely.
