SPRINGTIME

How very welcome is the coming of spring after the drabness of the winter months, when all nature bursts forth in bloom, and bird songs fill the morning air. Whose heart does not well up with gratitude for the sense of freedom and freshness which this loved season brings to the land?

During the months and days preceding this great event, hope and trust are evidenced on every hand, for though the earth, wrapped in its winter garments, gives no indication of what is about to occur— the bursting through of the wonders of springtime—yet with assurance multitudes await this season, and no one ever doubts its coming.

There is a great lesson to be learned from this trustful expectation. This lesson could be used in any dark period when the breaking through of joy, freedom, health, and light seems long in coming. There is a Bible verse which is quite fitting at such a time (Hebr. 11:1): "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
