Soon after I took up the study of Christian Science, the depression period came and our family was faced with the problem of losing our home. In a desperate state of thought I called a dear friend who was a Christian Science practitioner and sobbed out my story, telling her that within five days we would lose our home.

In a most loving manner she asked if she might come to see me. When she walked in, her arms were laden with books, and I was filled with wonderment. She asked if I knew how to use the Concordance to the Bible and the ones to Mrs. Eddy's writings. I told her that I did not and that I had never seen them before. She then explained how to use them and asked me to look up all the references to "home."

I shall never forget the next three days. My husband had gone to a distant city to see about a position, and the children were in school all day; so I was free to study. I learned that my real home is in consciousness and that it can never be taken from me. Two Bible references that seemed to stand out at that time were as follows: "Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee" (Ps. 84:4), and, "We know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens" (II Cor. 5:1).
