In Job we read (33:23, 24), "If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: then he is gracious unto him, and saith. Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom." For the interpreters— the Christian Science practitioners who have shown to me man's uprightness—I wish to express my sincere gratitude.

Compulsory physical examinations during my school years and later when I sought employment brought forth the verdict that my tonsils should be removed. On the last such occasion I was given employment, but I was told that a checkup would be made in six months and that I should have an operation before that time. The checkup did not occur for three years, however, and during that period I had two severe attacks of tonsillitis. At the time of the second attack help was asked of a Christian Science practitioner, and mention was made of the recurrence of the attacks. Specific work was done, and a complete healing followed.

When the checkup day arrived the doctor examined my tonsils and said, "Of course, if they do not bother you, I might as well O.K. them." This healing took place in 1930 and has been permanent. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 375), "The genuine Christian Scientist is adding to his patient's mental and moral power, and is increasing his patient's spirituality while restoring him physically through divine Love." It is the increase of spirituality that I treasure more than the physical healing.
