"Blessed be God, even the Father...

"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God" (II Cor. 1:3,4).

The beauty and strength of this holy message were proved to me when my husband passed on in 1941 after what had been a particularly happy companionship for many years. I was much helped by a loving practitioner, and in three days I was able to see something of the Life and Love which is God, and of the real man in His image and likeness, undying. This brought me both freedom and joy. Many who saw how I had been helped were likewise encouraged.

Christian Science enabled me so to rise above the sense of loss and loneliness that a little later when asked to take duties in a reading room and rest room for the troops I gladly consented. I shall always be grateful for the privilege of helping in some small measure to comfort some of those who faced war and its many hardships so bravely for us all.
