FROM ANNUAL REPORTS OF CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

Impositions on the Public Corrected

New York

In the publishing field there has been a remarkable lessening of criticism of Christian Science and Christian Scientists by the daily press. In the over seven hundred newspapers published in New York State during the past ear there was not one such criticism, and even jocular references to our religion have been curtailed to the point that only one such reference in the press was reported dining the year. An increasing number of newspapers are publishing excerpts from our Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and reprints of metaphysical articles from The Christian Science Monitor. On special occasions they give publicity to our church activities and to the works of Mary Baker Eddy.

Three references to (Christian Science in books published in New York required corrective steps. There were two periodicals which printed erroneous material. One of these afterwards printed not only a letter of correction sent by us to the editor but an accompanying apology by the editor. In the second instance a corrective letter could not be published because the periodical suspended publication.
