GATHERED IN HIS NAME

On no other day can we with more justification exclaim with the Psalmist (Ps. 118:24), "This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it," than on the day of an annual association meeting, provided for by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Manual of The Mother Church. For on that day class-taught students of Christian Science come together to enlarge their understanding of God's power and presence, to refresh their thought with the spiritual truths they have been taught.

An association meeting should be a day big with blessings, because the members come also to pledge fresh allegiance to their Father-Mother God, to their Leader, and to Christian Science, which they have been taught. They come to cement their unity and fellowship in Christ as co-workers in a glorious Cause that they individually and as an association may be strong towers of Truth and Love in the ramparts of our movement, that they may go forth and give greater proofs to the world of the healing and saving power of Christian Science. When students are motivated by such a sublime desire and bring "all the tithes into the storehouse" (Mal. 3:10), there is little wonder that the windows of heaven open wide and pour them out a blessing that "there shall not be room enough to receive it." The unselfish clearly reflect impartial, universal Love and so take part in the "divine adventure" of which Mrs. Eddy speaks in "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 158): "We live in an age of Love's divine adventure to be All-in-all."

An association is actually based on divine Principle. Therefore we can know that its activity is nourished, animated, governed, and protected by divine Love and is steadily moving forward and upward, expressing vitality, strength, and power. An association is designed to inspire, heal, and promote the moral and spiritual growth of its members and to give constant proof of its usefulness. It therefore exemplifies the activity of Christ, Truth, on earth.
