The Psalmist wrote (Ps. 119: 105)...

The Psalmist wrote (Ps. 119: 105), "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." I have found that to be very true. When I first accepted the teachings of Christian Science, the concept of God as Mind, the source of all intelligence and enlightenment, unfolded to me most clearly, and for a period of thirty-five years it afforded me inestimable help as a teacher in a public high school. What this understanding of God as Mind did for my pupils I can never know, but I can evaluate, at least in part, its help to me.

I taught school for several years before I accepted Christian Science, and my ability to discipline, based on personal authority, was small; but the first time that the light of Christian Science enabled me to separate the real child of God from the counterfeit there came a great change in my experience.

Later, in another school, came further proof of Mind's direction. Before a whole roomful of pupils a senior refused point-blank to obey a reasonable request. School authority gave me the privilege of deciding what his punishment should be. I turned completely to Mind for guidance, and my one prayer was: "Help me to see only the real man. Keep me from being unfair to this boy." I did not have to make a decision, for before school opened the next morning a most penitent lad came to me, acknowledged he had been entirely at fault, and offered to do anything I asked him to. His whole attitude toward school changed, and the quality of his schoolwork greatly improved.
