KEEP JOY ACTIVE

To those burdened with weariness and boredom Christian Science comes with release, freedom, and joy. It brings the very spirit of God, Truth, into human thinking, enlightening, purifying, and happifying it. Speaking of the cleansing effect of Truth in "Pond and Purpose," Mary Baker Eddy tells us, "By purifying human thought, this state of mind permeates with increased harmony all the minutiæ of human affairs" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 204). Paul declared spiritual understanding, or spiritual-mindedness, to be "life and peace." It reveals man made in the image and likeness of God, Spirit, the true selfhood of everyone.

In Genesis we read (1:31), "God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good;" and in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says in "the scientific statement of being" (p. 468), "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all." Then activity in its true, or spiritual, significance is infinite Mind's manifestation of itself in infinite spiritual ideas, constituting man as God's reflection. As this understanding progressively becomes one's own, his whole experience is transformed and every moment is alive with interest.

For the writer this knowledge changed the daily round of duties into spiritually mental adventures as she used every opportunity to listen for the voice of God, the inspiration of Love. Hymns were sung and psalms memorized while routine household duties were being attended to. Gratitude for and appreciation of the presence and infinitude of good kept thought at one with God, and burdens were dissolved and inspiring thoughts unfolded during those times.
