As an eager young student of the Bible I feel I was guided directly into the understanding of Christian Science, since we do find the truth if we sincerely seek it. In the Psalmist's words (Ps. 119:105), "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

Throughout my childhood I held to the faint concept I had gained of God and rejoiced in what I knew of Him. Then in 1934 I attended a Christian Science Sunday service in a branch church. The Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly was on "Love," and for what seemed the first time in my life I became aware of the infinite love and care of God. The exposition of the Bible by "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy presented our Father-Mother God as good, more glorious and loving than I had understood Him to be from the teachings of other churches. As the readings continued, I felt that I had never really known God before. His unchangeable goodness, His divine nature as Love, His unfailing answer to right prayer. I began to realize the absolute demand of Jesus' words (Matt. 6:33), "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." This conversion I count as my most blessed experience, since this Science revealed to me how to make practical the Christ-power in my own daily experience.

From that day I turned wholeheartedly to Christian Science. For some time I did not own a copy of Science and Health and often walked miles to borrow one and study it. I pondered and questioned and searched until I understood in a degree how to practice this divine law, or Science.
