Introducing the Lesson-Sermons

The novice who comes to our Reading Room inquiring about the study of Christian Science must be made to understand that our two textbooks, the Bible and "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, are foundational and that it is to these books he must turn if he wants to know "what Christian Science is all about;" also, that if he really desires to progress in his understanding of God and man, the Lesson-Sermon is his invaluable aid. We give our little leaflet, "Divinely Inspired Sermons," to those borrowing or buying Science and Health for the first time, and whenever we can appropriately distribute it. It explains so clearly to the beginner that each section in the Lesson has a specific topic that unfolds and enlarges our understanding of the Lesson's subject.

It is an unwritten law that we have a plentiful stock of the Christian Science Quarterlies on hand at all times. The pamphlet, "Importance of the Lesson-Sermons," and the leaflet, "Divinely Inspired Sermons," are often shown on the counter with the Quarterly. Our Lesson-Sermons are a spiritual food that is feeding the world. Invariably when introducing the daily study of the Bible Lesson-Sermons to the young seeker of Truth, the sale of the Bible and our textbook, Science and Health, ultimately follows.
