For twenty-six years I have been...

For twenty-six years I have been a student of Christian Science, which was presented to me just when I needed it. I was beginning to lose faith and hope in everyone and everything around me, and I am grateful to say that Christian Science explained what I wanted to know.

On page 444 of the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, we read, "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.'" I began to wonder what and where and who God is. How could I trust what I did not understand? So I began to study the textbook and prayed for understanding, and as I read, I began to feel peaceful and more contented. Then I began to realize that God is divine presence, a pure and holy influence, and that God was just exactly where I was; therefore He was never absent.

During the late war I was greatly helped and sustained when two of my sons were in Italy. I am very grateful that they had a good knowledge of Christian Science and applied it and attended church services whenever possible. These two boys were grateful for the Christian Science Rest Rooms and the Wartime Ministers and Workers, also for the literature they received. During those years I had to learn to let go of my sons and leave them entirely in God's care. Three times a day I would thank God that my sons were His sons, and that He was with them wherever they were. I also repeated the Ninety-first Psalm each time and believed the promises contained therein. My three sons are all members of The Mother Church, two being active members of our branch church, and for this I am indeed grateful.
