"PSYCHOLOGY, OR THE SCIENCE OF SPIRIT"

Every sincere mother feels keenly the importance of guiding her children's thoughts and actions correctly. The widespread reaching out for enlightenment on this subject is evidenced by the many books written on the subject of child psychology.

When Moses was entrusted with the guidance of the children of Israel out of Egypt, through the wilderness, into the promised land, God spoke to him in these words (Ex. 33:14): "My presence shall go with thee." Christian Science teaches that God is Mind, Principle, and Love, as well as Spirit, Truth, Soul, and Life, and that man is His reflection. When we begin to discern that Mind is ever present, imparting intelligent ideas to our consciousness each moment, we realize that these ideas provide all we need to guide our children properly. Every Christian Science mother has proved many times in her relationship with her children that any deprivations of privileges or other corrective means of discipline are useless unless accompanied by a clear understanding of God as Principle, divine Love, and of His child as the reflection of the loveliness of Love and the integrity of Principle.

"Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy is the only textbook parents need for guidance in child training. Several years ago a Christian Science mother found herself reading books on child psychology for the answer to every little phase of error her child manifested. Suddenly she was awakened to see that she was reading about and analyzing mortal mind and being influenced by many conflicting human opinions, instead of using Christian Science and letting its light reveal to consciousness the man of God's creating. She threw out the books just as one who suddenly realizes that Mind is the only physician might throw away all material medicine, and from that time on has been immeasurably blessed in guiding her children with absolute, pure, unadulterated Christian Science.
