LETTERS TO THE PRESS from Christian Science Committees on Publication

The Falmouth Parish Magazine recently contained in its inset, The Sentinel, an attack on Christian Science and its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy. As many of your readers who are members of that great Christian Church—the Church of England—will deprecate this uncalled-for attack, I am sending this brief reply.

The writer of the article obviously knows nothing of the teaching of Christian Science, which is founded on the words and works of Christ Jesus, but the epithets he uses are singularly like the language used against Christ Jesus and his apostles by the leaders of the orthodox or established religion of those days, who charged Jesus with blasphemy, et cetera, and dubbed Paul a "pestilent fellow." Hundreds of years later it was the ecclesiastical authorities who gave orders for the early copies of the Bible printed in English to be publicly burned at Smithfield. Our friend seems to be in unhappy company.
