GLORY

[Of Special Interest to Children]

What a lovely word "glory" is! So lovely that mothers and fathers sometimes name their little girls Glory, or Gloria, which is the Latin word that means the same thing. Some of you may know a Gloria, but have never thought what the name means.

Most of you have heard, read, or sung about the glory of God, just as you have sung about His love. But perhaps you do not know what glory really is.

In the Bible, in the book of Exodus, is the account of a prophet named Moses, who learned the true meaning of glory. When Moses was a little baby, his mother made an ark of bulrushes for him. As he grew to manhood, he often thought about God. Later on, when he was grown up, he became a shepherd, and often while his flocks were quietly feeding, he used to commune with God, which means listen to and talk with Him. In this way he learned many things about God's nature, about His tender care, love, and protection.
