Mary Baker Eddy, on page 494...

Mary Baker Eddy, on page 494 of the textbook, Science and Health, writes, "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (pp. 149, 150) she writes, "Remember, thou canst be brought into no condition, be it ever so severe, where Love has not been before thee and where its tender lesson is not awaiting thee."

It has been my experience that the former statement is true and operative, while the hope and assurance given by the latter statement have been a bulwark and a rallying point in my struggle with all types of error.

I had the good fortune to attend the Christian Science Sunday School from earliest childhood until I left home to go to college. During this period I was healed of asthma after a long struggle, during which many lessons were learned. Chief among my difficulties was a terrible fear of someday having a severe attack of the disease when I was away from home. As I gained more understanding, I learned that I must let nothing stand in the way of my becoming a useful man and taking my proper place in society. The fear of the disease and its consequences vanished during my senior year in high school, and I have not missed a day of school or work because of it since.
