Christian Science was presented to my mother over fifty-five years ago, and she unreservedly accepted its teachings. Shortly after beginning the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, my mother met with a serious accident in which her back was broken. She requested treatment from a Christian Science practitioner and was healed. For over forty years she relied upon this practical truth to meet her every need.

As a result of my mother's healing, most of our family accepted Science, and among the many healings we experienced were those of blood poisoning, heart trouble, rheumatism, smallpox, influenza, typhoid fever, and gallstones. An account of this last healing appeared in The Christian Science Journal of August, 1923, and was submitted for publication by my brother. My father did not become interested in Christian Science for several years; however, he was healed of a serious eye injury, which a physician said might result in blindness in one eye. When he was past seventy years of age he was healed of kidney trouble, and with this healing he was freed of the tobacco habit.

When quite young I was stricken with an illness and confined to my bed for several months. Absent treatment was given by an authorized practitioner, and I began the earnest study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings. The healing has been permanent, and my study during that period established a love and reverence for Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy. During the forty years since that first healing, Science has been a beacon light to guide and inspire me.
