THE QUICK WORD

God's Word is quick. It is powerful.
The Bible tells us that.
Still we delay; we settle
Our heaviness on the mat
And wait for the door to open,
For one on the other side
To turn the key for us.
Is it indolence? Or pride?
Or have we lost that eager
Readiness to believe?
Have we become casehardened
And slow to receive?
What will destroy self-centered
Inertia that congeals?
The quick Word, the powerful,
Which awakes and heals.
