I am grateful indeed to be able...

I am grateful indeed to be able to testify to the many blessings received through the study of Christian Science. I became a member of an orthodox church at the age of thirteen. I loved this church and was happy to work in it, but as I grew older and studied the Bible more, questions began to arise for which there seemed to be no answers Sunday School teachers, ministers, and other good men and women who I thought should know were asked these questions, but their answers did not satisfy. I wanted something definite, a logical reason for all things. I became so dissatisfied that I no longer attended the church services. But I read the Bible daily, sometimes for hours. At this time Christian Science was presented to me in such a way that I knew it was the truth. After reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I was no longer perplexed by unanswered questions, because the Bible was explained so clearly.

Although the study of Christian Science was taken up for the beautiful teaching it presented, down through the years there have been numerous physical healings.

While I was serving as First Reader in a branch church, one Sunday morning I started down the steps of my house and caught the heel of my shoe, jerking my foot back against the perpendicular part of the step. The pain was very severe, and I found I could bear no weight on my foot at all. Immediately our beloved Leader's words from Science and Health (p. 424) came to me: "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony. Under divine Providence there can he no accidents dents. since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."
