REMEMBER PETER!

Are you one of those people who seem always to be saying or doing the wrong thing, speaking out of turn, making snap judgments, or hastily accepting positions beyond their ability to retain?

If so, remember Peter, Christ Jesus' disciple, whose impulsive nature led him into many unhappy situations. Yet he was the first to discern the Christ when the Master asked the disciples (Matt. 16:15), "Whom say ye that I am?" "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God," were Peter's bold words. The Master, with deep spiritual insight saw beyond the outward and material into the depth of Peter's receptivity. Jesus saw clearly that personal sense had not revealed this truth to the disciples; it had come from the Father. Hence his commendation (verse 17), "Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona."

Have we, like Peter of old, after discerning the Christ, denied him once, twice, even thrice before we have listened to the voice of Truth and followed its guidance? Has our thought been receptive to Truth's voice, but after hearing it has our heart sometimes become hardened with pride or fear so that the good seed has been snatched away before it had taken root?
