Helping Our Brother

One of the visitors to the Reading Room, on returning a loan library book of Mary Baker Eddy's writings, said she thought she would devote more time for a few months to the reading of the Christian Science periodicals, and so would not be borrowing another copy of our Leader's writings. The librarian, recognizing the subtlety of this argument and realizing the importance of the study of Mrs. Eddy's inspired works, explained that the reading of the periodicals can never take the place of the study of our Leader's books, but is supplementary to it. The visitor pondered this statement for a few moments, and later, when she left the Reading Room, carried with her another of Mrs. Eddy's prose writings.

The Christian Science Quarterly in braille is now placed with the other books and periodicals in our study room. In this Quarterly the selections for the weekly Lesson-Sermon from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, are brailled in full, enabling braille readers to get the complete Lesson from the Quarterly without recourse to the brailled Bible and textbook. The complete Science and Health in braille is also available in our study room,' and other writings by our Leader in braille may be borrowed from the loan library. [Note:The Herald of Christian Science, Braille Edition, has been a popular addition to several Reading Rooms recently.]
