I wish to express gratitude to...

I wish to express gratitude to God for His correcting rod and loving care, and to Christ Jesus, of whom Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health (p. 54), "Through the magnitude of his human life, he demonstrated the divine Life," showing us the way to peace and happiness. My gratitude for the Lesson-Sermons is unbounded. They increase our spiritual understanding so that we are better able to cope with problems that arise.

Once while away from home I suddenly became ill and was in great pain. Not knowing a practitioner in that city, I took The Christian Science Journal and called several practitioners I found listed there, but was unable to reach one. When I thought I should not be able to call another, the words often read in our Lesson-Sermons came to me as though someone had spoken them (Isa. 65:24): "Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." I was freed from pain instantaneously, and was then successful in getting in touch with a practitioner. The complete healing was realized in a short time.

Three years ago I was stricken with influenza on Christmas Day. Work was taken up by a practitioner, and although I was quickly relieved from most of the discomfort, I remained in a weakened and nervous state. I could not understand why this should be, and while reading my Lesson, I took my dictionary to get a clearer concept of the word "infinite." As I did so, my glance fell on the word "influenza" on the opposite page. I read that definition also, and found that it mentioned the specific symptom which I manifested. I took a radical stand in Science against this argument. Strength returned quickly when I realized that it was a quality of God and was therefore inexhaustible. I was soon free.
