Unemployment, fear, and anxiety,...

Unemployment, fear, and anxiety, abetted by the frequent use of alcohol, brought about a physical disability at a time when my existence seemed beset by one difficulty after another, with little prospect of security. In this discouraged state of mind I turned to Christian Science for help, attending Sunday and Wednesday evening services. The reading from the desk, the Lesson-Sermon, and the testimonies of healing provided me with the much-needed encouragement. The study of the Bible and the Christian Science textbook brought enlightenment and a desire to know more about God.

The statement, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," gave me the assurance that God is my friend. All desire for alcohol and tobacco vanished, employment replaced unemployment. Words alone are inadequate to express my joy and gratitude for this God-given freedom, for God's law of adjustment.

After the extraction of some teeth, a condition diagnosed as oral osteomyelitis was said to be present. This mortal mind verdict was not accepted; the condition was recognized as error and no fear was entertained. While I was listening to a Christian Science lecture, I realized something of man's incorporeality and spirituality, and an instantaneous healing resulted. "Truth is always the victor," Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 380 of Science and Health.
