The Psalmist sang (Ps.138:7), "Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me." For many years I have enjoyed the benefits and protection of Christian Science. I was introduced to it in 1911, when it was necessary for me to read to a loved one from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It appeared remarkable to me that by just reading a book one could find relief from sickness, but during this period this fact was proved to me many times.

My interest grew, and I endeavored to gain an understanding of the truth from this precious volume. I soon learned to study the Bible in connection with Science and Health by doing the Lesson-Sermons. My gratitude for our dear Leader grew as I realized that she loved humanity so much that she not only gave them the "key" to the Scriptures, but supplied them with the Lesson-Sermons, whereby they might use this "key" daily.

A great burden was lifted from me when I learned that God is the Father and Mother of all. This helped me to overcome fear for my children so that I could more easily leave them in the Father-Mother's care. I started to demonstrate the truth I learned, and "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468) proved an ever present help. Colds, burns, blisters, indigestion, and hay fever were some of the ills that faded away at this time. I am very grateful for the practitioners who so patiently helped me from time to time.
