In the Acts of the Apostles (3: 6, 8)...

In the Acts of the Apostles (3: 6, 8) we are told that a man lame from birth asked an alms of Peter and John. "Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. ... And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God."

Whenever I think of this Scripture my heart overflows with gratitude for Christian Science, because it has brought me freedom, for which I praise God. For quite some time I was in bondage to inactivity, unable to do my housework. A physician who had been trying to help me for some time sent me to a hospital for an exhaustive examination. The verdict was that I had a very bad heart and high blood pressure, and I was told that I should do nothing active, but be as quiet as possible. In my extremity I was willing at last to turn wholeheartedly to Christian Science, give up the belief of ease, pleasure, and sin in matter, and begin to work out my own salvation.

With the help of Christian Science practitioners, the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons, and attendance at church services, the heart condition and high blood pressure, with their attendant inertia, unconsciousness, and pain, vanished. For this healing I am most grateful. I am now employed in an office, and do all my own housework and laundry. Indeed, "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:26).
