Christian Science Committee on Publication for Kansas Reports

We are grateful for the enlightened attitude on the part of our Kansas editors which results in their careful watchfulness to prevent incorrect statements regarding our religion from appearing in their newspapers. We are also grateful that the managers of Kansas radio stations will not permit incorrect statements about Christian Science to be made over the air.

The Committee on Publication spent much time in watching the activity of the last session of our state legislature. Every one of the bills introduced was examined, and those which might affect the rights of Christian Scientists were given special attention. All such bills were defeated with the exception of one, which was satisfactorily amended.

Kansas newspapers continue to be generous in the giving of space to our material. No less than forty Kansas newspapers have found it necessary to suspend "for the duration," and others have been forced to reduce their size on account of labor shortage and the limitations imposed regarding the use of newsprint. Nevertheless, our Lesson-Sermon excerpts and "Thoughts for the Thinker" have continued to be published with pleasing regularity by many of the papers. Editors continue to quote editorials and other items from The Christian Science Monitor with proper credit. Most of the editors who do this are receiving subscriptions to the Monitor in exchange for running an advertisement of the Monitor in their newspapers.
