"My cup runneth over"

When one for the first time approaches the study of the Bible and of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy with a lively interest, he will experience a great stirring of wonder at the hitherto undiscovered treasures and glories that have been available and yet were not known to him. It may amaze him to see that sometimes even those who have found this open gate leading to the green pastures of revealed and startling truths do not use the opportunities that such an open gate affords.

Truth can transform the minutest detail of living, and yet so mighty is its power that it can neutralize the supercharged clouds of materiality, as a great stroke of lightning neutralizes the electrical charges in the clouds, releasing moisture or inducing rainfall.

The wonders wrought by Truth often appear to the initiate as physical healings, business adjustments, improved human conditions, and more harmonious and interesting social relationships. However, it does not take the alert student long to see that these changed appearances are but the gate ajar—not the gate wide open —merely the beginning, not the goal; simply a fleeting glimpse into the far-flung vistas—not the full-orbed vision of the spiritual landscape.
