"Sufficiency in all things"

The superiority of spiritual power over material power or resistance was demonstrated by the prophets, reiterated and practiced by Christ Jesus, forgotten by most of the world during the centuries that followed, again voiced by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, proved by her and then explained to a waiting world. Today, when material might has risen in bombastic fury, students of Christian Science are learning that in proportion as they are conscious that man reflects God's supremacy, they have dominion over sin, insufficiency, suffering, and failure. Their experiences are bringing into clear light the practicality of these inspired words of the Bible: "God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work."

The Christian Science textbook shows clearly what must be done to receive the good God is able to bestow (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 252): "A knowledge of error and of its operations must precede that understanding of Truth which destroys error, until the entire mortal, material error finally disappears, and the eternal verity, man created by and of Spirit, isunderstood and recognized as the true likeness of his Maker." Let Truth be the light in which we examine the claims of error.

The false desire of the human mind to feel superior to its fellows and to show it by physical or mental domination needs to be abandoned. Superiority to evil or erroneous thinking is the only righteous goal for endeavor. And as dominion over false material thinking takes the place of domination of persons, God's grace does, indeed, abound, and one experiences a satisfaction and fulfillment enriching all concerned.
